Two Blogs

The first blog I found related to American Eagle Outfitters was:
The Do-Nothing American Eagle

This blog is basically an attempt to unite student protesters and boycott American Eagle's clothing. It is in response to the issues over contractors and suppliers for the clothing line and how they are supposedly mistreated. At the end of the blog, the author lists a number of schools that are participating in the boycott. They also list a number of ways to get involved to fight against the clothing brand.

American Eagle Outfitters Promotion

This blog praises American Eagle Outfitters' marketing promotion (try on a pair of AE jeans and get a free movie pass for AMC theaters). The author comments that is an awesome way for two mega-brands to unite and benefit their customers. The author also comments that it is different than usual promotions and that it is great that AE is counting on their products to sell themselves when people try them on.

American Eagle Web comedy

American Eagle plans to develop and produce a Web mini-series called "It's a Mall World." It will also run as 3-minute episodes that will replace commercial breaks on MTV's "The Real World." American Eagle is labeling this type of promotion and marketing as "advertainment." The mini-series focuses on the life of mall employees, specifically, one American Eagle employee and her friends. The company is thinking about running a Holiday version of the show and extending the show through 2008.

As a former mall employee, I feel the show is a good idea. However, I feel that the show will probably not be an accurate representation of the true life of a mall employee. But I do applaud American Eagle's efforts to reach target publics and segments of the population.

Forums

One of the forums I looked at, topix, had a section on American Eagle. There were a variety of topics on these boards, including people asking the age requirements for employment and stockholder information. There were people who left comments that were fans of American Eagle while others were completing against the clothing company.
